Cool how much can my 4l60e take?

Ok so i have a 94 z28 with a 4l60e, sometime in the future i plan on doing a h/c/i setup in the 400 hp range, will my a4 be able to handle that with a new converter and shift tune, or will i have to get it rebuilt?
and if it must be rebuilt, how much does that usually cost?

If you want it to last any amount of time you need to get it built. Or you could look into purchasing one from a sponsor on here.

it might last awhile. but count on needing an upgrade eventually.

Mine lasted 72,xxx miles. Had the 3200 converter for 2 years and sticky tires for about 5 months then she finally went. I'm not even making that much power either. Mods in sig.

From what I've seen there is really no way to tell. Some last with 450-500rwhp and some go with 300rwhp.

If you use your car as your only form of transportation I would start saving up and that way when/if it goes you'll be ready and minimize down time.

You should be able to get away with about 500 hp with that trans, but you will have to upgrade eventually.

Might be 1 or 2 guy's here that will disagree with you on that, lol.
Lot of people with experience will say your trans should hold 400-425 hp, provided you don't do a lot of wot downshift's, keep your rpm's near stock and put in a tranny cooler.
I myself agree with that .
I have lost count, but I think I am at my 25th bottle of nitrous on a stock tranny. I spray threw the shifts too.
I did not delete tq mgmt. and I change my tranny fluid often.
Car has 72,000 miles at present.

What do you mean by a shift tune? Imo, raising shift points will also hurt the life
of the trans.

Trannys are usually killed by overheating. Get a tranny cooler and that will really help. as far as your stocker lasting with more power, it really depends on the condition its in now, how you drive the car/ how often it sees the track.

I agree with there is no way to tell for sure. My tranny went out the first time with 68,000 on it stock converter and no cooler. Second time was 4,000 miles later still stock.

Now it has been built, stall and a big tranny cooler added we will see if that lasts. Mods in sig.

Very impressive...How many track passes do you have on it? How often do you change the fluid? How many miles on the car?

My 4L60E has about 132,xxx miles on it with a stock 5.3L (Silverado Truck). It shifts reeaaaly hard into second and slips like a ***** going into 3rd, unless I'm at WOT. I noticed this at about 100,xxx miles or so. It's still barely holding up though...I just probably jinxed myself right now...Not sure what they rate the 5.3L at, as far as torque and hp are concerned, but I'm sure my 5.3L will outlive my 4L60E.

I don't get it.
I run 11.65-11.71's consistantly.
I have lost count but I believe I am on like my 25'th bottle of juice and my tranny is fine.
Spray out of the hole on mt dr's and threw the shift's as well.
What are you doing to blow thru so many tranny's???
And please don't BS me by saying 4l60's are junk, or that its the luck of the draw.
Now if you tell me that you run low 10's then I can see your issue. And I will follow up with, " What did you expect?".
If not, then what are you doing to blow these tranny's ???

I won't say the 4L60E is junk, but it's a mechanical piece of equipment that is prone to fail. If you take a look at all the "weak links" with the 4L60E, you will notice that most of them fail the same way. The aftermarket is doing a great job with the upgrades and fixing the weak links for these trannys.
