i put a 03 lq4 and a 04 4l80 in my 92 gmc typhoon .I just put trans in and the converter is like half inch away from flexplate it says in directions whould have no more than 3/16 has any one else had this problem. the motor is a 03 so it does have the spacer on the crank and i reused it on new sfi flewplate . Please help. who sells the spacers

You should be ok being that the lq4 already had a 4l80e behind it already. as long as the spacer is there you should be good. Im thinking the converter is just back in the trans as far as it will go. if thats the case there will deff be more than 3/16 between the converter and the plate. I think you are still good when the converter is pulled up against the flexplate though.
Im assuming you dont have it pulled all the way forward when its a 1/2 in away from the flexplate correct?

some pics
without pulling converter towards flexplate, i have just about 1/2 inch away from each other. so if i pull it out like it says, i would need about a 3/8 thick washer.

sory to hijack but my friend is putting a th350 up to a ls3, he has the flat flex plate and when he puts the spacer on the crank side the starter wont clear the flex plate ( as in it hits the nose). he is using a truck 6.0 starter is there something we are missing or what
