Would it be possible to put an ls1 into a base 1999 firebird, my motor blew after 102000. If so will I need to buy a news trans? Its an automatic, and id like to just drop and ls1 in but don't know how to go about it and what all I would need to do, sorry, kind of a newbie here. :/

Youll need a new trans, its the easiest way to go.. If im not mistaken, ZexGX has done the swap, to an LS1. Im sure he can give you some pointers.
