Transmission not working, what's wrong?
 

I heard some sound under the engine bay, like something was caught in the fan or maybe an exhaust leak. I stopped, opened the hood and heard a small pop. Now the car won't go in gear, I thought it was the linkage but it wasn't. Do y'all have any clue what it could be? It's an auto by the way..

I pulled the dipstick and it's waaaayyy the hell over the full line.

Sounds like the pump broke. The fluid level is high because it's not pumping.

Try pulling a cooler line and seeing if you have fluid flow. Or put a gauge on the pressure port.

That would make sense. I pulled into the parking lot and it was driving fine since I didn't want something rattling under the hood when I pull into the car show. My friend just happened to be passing by so I talked to him for a minute with the car running and bang. Nothing loud, sounded like when something was caught in a fan and it finally throws itself free. I figured that was all so I just shut the hood, got in the car and when I put it in gear nothing happened.

Alright so I pulled those two lines, ran the car and a little bit dripped out. At work some cars have these busted up and driving it from the front to the back is enough to pretty much empty the thing.

So I guess it's a pump?

yeah i would assume so. if you pull the line with the engine running it should be flowing out of the line pretty good. if its just dripping the pump is either broken or something is snagged in the line.

That fluid is black too, it shouldn't be black at all.

I know, I couldnt believe it when I saw it on the dipstick.

Looks like it was severely overheated.
But the looks of those rubber hoses, it looks like you may have bypassed your radiator?

It goes through that little mini radiator one.
