Default th400 type f , dex 3 , mix or what guys

I have a th400 and a 4000 stall , what kind of fliud do you guys run. I hear f is good , then some one says not good so should i stay with dex 3 or maybe even mix something.

Also with the stock trans pan if i drain the fliud out how much should it take to fill it back up, about.

I use straight type f it runs a tad cooler for me but i have a 8" converter. 7 1/2 short pan 9 1/2 deep pan usually. I start with 6 then let it run and top it off. If you over fill it it will puke out the fluid on to you headers usually and then catch on fire in some cases.

Hows the type F run, i read it can make the stall or pump make noises. I read it runs a little hot and shifts crazy over the dex 3 and puts more on the clutches so they dont last. Whats your thoughts on this. You know how it is cant everything you read in and belive it all.

My stall and tans seem a little lose, thought it might be able to help my shifts and 60 ft

I had my transmission built by a local shop here and they had me change over to type f didn't ask why i said ok. I don't notice too much difference by I have a 5000 8"stall so maybe some people notice it more with a lower stall and a stock transmission. JW told me to use full synthetic atf to make it run cooler but the shop who built it said save the $100 and use type f. In the other car we have to use john deer fluid I also don't know why but it works great alot higher horsepower than the trans am though. Talk to a few heavy fast cars at the track what they use some of them use what ever is left over in the shop type f, dex 3, but some only use trick shift. Every time I have had transmission issues it was either broken hard parts or check ***** going through valve body plates. I have only broken around 7 though. Sorry I don't have a more scientific explanation.
