stall question hey i have a quick question. what happens if a stall starts to go out and fail? because my friend is getting a bigger stall and iam getting his and the mechanic said the stall is causing his car to shift 3rd sluggish. so what u think something wrong with it? send it out or i could still put it in mines? |
I wouldn't put a used stall in my trans, let alone one that might be having problems. You can get them freshened up/rebuilt for fairly cheap. You can buy a brand new PTC (KILLER! converter) for 450$. My buddy just put his in... 273 gears stock 98 ls1 intake/heads/cam/tb/etc etc etc stock tune LTs/Xpipe/1 chambers and a lid... 7.8@87mph 1.6 short time... First and only pass, I think he could have hit 7.7s that night easily. |
thats what the converter is its a ptc and he have the recipte to send it back off to get it checked out |

I bought a used one and the lock up clutch went out within the first year. Might as well buy brand new and not worry about it. |
its a 10inch and he brought it new and the only reason he selling it is because of his cam size. his mechanic told him he needs a bigger one because of his power band and his stall is not working right with the cam. he sellin it to me for 200 |

It is going to run around 100-200$ to ship it off and have it refreshed/rebuilt. |
its a 3600 stall and its under warranty already all i have to do is send it off |

For some reason I was thinking you had a cam. Guess not. |
Do it anyway. I had mine in before I had my cam. It isn't a 4000 but close enough. Makes it more fun to drive. |
FWIW performabuilt makes a very nice 9.5" lockup stall they can tailor to your every need for a good price and its a very nice peice. highly reccomended |

i would be highly upset if my ls1 car trapped that after heads and cam Well he was pretty Damn happy since he has stock heads cam intake with just exhaust and a lid. It trapped 86. |

I paid $695 but it was a very nice peice and well worth it. a stall is a vital peice of the car and not something you wanna cheap out to much on. |
