Default 700r4 into a 93 maro

ok regardless of the whole what trans was in the 93 f bodys debate I have a 5 pin plug on my 93 harness in my 93 z28 so that=4l60 I'm having a tough time finding a 4l60 to just drop in. now keep in mind I do not have a trans at all to take any parts from to swap to the new one so what exactly will it take to make a 4 pin 700r4 work in my 93?
what modification to the wire harness?
what modification to the vss?
I know the whole 27 vs 30 spline thing so I'd need a 88+

as detailed as you can get is what I need

man ,this is a strange case. you would think a 700r4 would drop right in since that what they came with. i had to rebuild my 700r4 twice when i had my 93 then i switched to a 3-speed TH350.

have you asked any local transmission shops have any ideas to help you out ? have you called any aftermarket transmission guys ? i'm sure they would have some answers for you. i hope .

Let me offer a bit of advise here. I have a couple options for you. The first would be to call us or one of the other transmission sponsors and order the correct unit for your application. Or what you can do is get the proper case connector out of a FWD 440T4 to use in any 87 and later unit. You will also have to get the internal harness for this plug as well. From there you will have to get the proper valve body that has the ports for the pressure switches that were used in that year. Then get a couple of different harness's that will have the proper plugs and cut and splice a harness for your application. You will need to get an ATSG book to get the info for the proper switch ID's and also the wiring. I hope this helps. Vince

I know people have adapted to a 700r4 without digging to deep into it I saw awhile ago somewhere where it said something about re pining the connector or something and then I found some thing about saying something about changing stuff in the tailshaft for the vss neither sources were to detailed and I cant find them again

vince, i cant afford to buy a new one from you let alone a cheap shop lol, I'm selling this car as soon as its put together so i dont need something thats gonna last me another 100k miles plus the motor is bone stock

anybody have a pinout for the two different comnectors?

the books say 93's came with a 4l60 with a 5pin conector but more and more evidence is showing that they infact did come with 700r4's with the 4 pin so I wonder if the vss crap would be compatible with a 4l60 car if I got a 700r4 that was from a 93 f bod and I'd only then have to worry about the wiring. if thats the case I can get my hands on one for a good price here local I just need to confirm the wireing alterations.

You could rip all the wiring out.
Run the tcc solenoid to a N.O. 4th gear pressure switch, then run that to a key on 12 volt source. It'll have automatic lock up in 4th. You can even break it with a toggle switch for more control.

As for the VSS just put all your existing stuff on the replacement trans.

Even though the 88 and up 700's are better, you could go back to '84 1/2 before worrying about the input spline. Or anything else for that matter.

please elaborate on "N.O. pressure switch" I'm a little slow some days and I have no existing trans components at all car came with a torn apart motor and no trans.

Normally Open. Theres a 1/8" npt port in the valve body that gets 4th gear oil. When it shifts to 4th the pressure will close the switch, complete the electrical circuit, apply 12 volts to the tcc solenoid and it'll lock the converter.

The only problem you'll have is a tcc dtc. (check engine light on because the computers not controlling the lock up)
