Question What used 4L60e to buy.

I'm using a 6L truck engine for a conversion, the engine came out of a 2003 Silverado SS. I'm not gonna use the 4L65E AWD tranny since it's going on a 2WD car.

My question is: Can I use a 4L60? If so, between what years should I stay so I can still use the stock PCM of the SSS to control the tranny?

Or where can I find this info, I've been searching for a while, but have only found info for very specific cars.

Let me know if more input should be provided.

Sorry for keep bothering with this question, I really need to find out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can I control a 4L60E with a 4L65E ECM? The ECM is a 2003, what year of 4L60E should I look for?

'98 and up.
I'd swap the tailshaft and housing and use what you have.
If you have the AWD transfer case it should cover parts and labor to have a shop do it IMO.

Thanks for the input Jays. That's not a bad idea at all, the problem is I am not in the US, and getting the T-case sold will be a pain and will take me a long time.

Since I got the engine and trany combo for a very low price I don't care storing the 4L65 for a future project.

The other thing I was thinking to do is to transplant the solenoids/connectors and all the electronic guts to the new trany from the *65.

Is that something you experts would hold me to do?

For sale is a GM Tranny 4L60E. The tranny has at most 1500 miles on it. It was in my friends s10 till he got t-boned. Tranny is in amazing condition. Was done by Chevy with kevlor clutches and harden sunshell, complete rebuild with everything, and has corvette servo. I bought the tranny before i took mine out and then realized i had gotten the wrong tranny. Comes with all parts and torque converter. Tranny cost 2200 new and im selling it for 800 obo. If you are interested call Mike at 845-855-0899. Its goin to go fast for a new tranny at this price
He's not in the US. No one on craigslist is going to ship to another country. And anyone in another country should be wise not to buy from craigslist.
Kevlar clutches suck, they don't even make them for that transmission, it's also a 4x4 trans that would need the output shaft swapped out which is what the OP was trying to avoid in the first place.

It should all work as long as the new trans is close in year to the 65.
You really shouldn't need to swap it if the new trans has it all.

Just narrowing my options a little more: should I also stay close on engine size? Or any V8 '65/'60 will be ok? Should I also stay away from the V6 tranys?
