I have a 95 with the PCM tuned etc and need a trans due to no 3rd/4th gear
I have an offer for a fresh built trans out of a 97.
will the electrical plugs fit and be triggering the same things as my 95?
is switching anything from my car trans (95) onto the new trans (97) needed or possible?
OBDI vs OBDII has me wondering about the wires to and from the PCM
Please reply if you know for sure by trying it or as a trans builder - no guessing - thanks!

if the 95 has PWM modualtion of the TCC then it will be a direct swap if not you will need to stake the valve for the TCC on the VB. look on your old trans if you have 2 solenoids at the front of the trans closest to mtor then you have a PWM unit if not then you dont and you would need to stake the valve on the new unit so that it doesnt move. or you would need to transfer the tCC valve in your VB to the new VB which will require removal of the VB. I will see if i can find the pic of how to stake the valve for you.

there ya go basically you make sure the valve is pushed against the stopper on the vb and take a screwdriver and stake the valve so it cant move this makes the lockup on or off no more PWM even if it is a PWM unit this is still a good mod to prevent converter failure. however if the 95 isnt PWM you will have to do this to be able to have lockup. This is the quikest and easiset way to mod it to work in your app. you could remove the VB and change the valve train but this is fool proof if you do it just as it says.

The 95 is a pwm unit. The only difference is the 3-2 solenoid and the internal harness is not the same as the 96 and later units. The 95 unit will have two like style solenoids for the 3-2 and pwm lu solenoid. In the 97 unit the 3-2 solenoid was changed. I believe there is a slight difference in the separator plate as well. I have seen both style vb's used from the factory however the pumps I have seen were always pwm. When the pump changed so did the vb plate IIRC from the 93/94 non pwm to the 95 pwm plate. Obviously in 95 the internal harness changed and also a second solenoid was introduced for the pwm lu function. Vince
