Introduction! Jake's Performance Just wanted to introduce myself as a new sponsor on LS1Tech and inform you "Techies" what we are about. I'm Jake, the founder of Jake's Performance. I've been posting advice on LS1Tech off and on for years as "jakeshoe". I'll still be providing the same technical advice I have for years on a time available basis. First of all, We DON'T build and ship 4L60Es. So for your 4L60 needs please continue to use the proven vendors such as FLT, RPM, and Performabuilt. We primarily build 4L80E's and TH400's. Our experience includes building these units for everything from 400 HP to 1500+ HP. We specialize in forced induction applications. I've been building TH400's with automatic shift valve body for forced induction for years. Our 4L80E's and transbrake have proven popular and are the reason why we've sponsored LS1Tech. Some new products that are in the production stage now include an adjustable pressure regulator, EPC plug for fixed line pressure, speed sensor plugs, and our exclusive valve body seperator plate. We are developing some more new products. Billet 4L80E Overdrive carrier with alternate OD ratios, Superlight 4L80E geartrain, and a six speed version of the 4L80E. Let us know if we can help you with your "No Compromise Overdrive" needs! |
Sweet man, glad to have you aboard - officially! I keep hearing great things about your 4L80, some of my customers rave about you. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to the new innovations! Chris |

awwe jake you dont want to play with the 60s for 1000hp because they have to have fuel economy and street manners lol and have your name smeared across the board when it breaks lol. SMART man! |

However they are not my preferred unit. I look at things from a design standpoint and there are some design "flaws" with that platform that no matter how good of a builder you are, you are "working around" the problem. Obviously the aftermarket and the proven builders have done a great job doing so. I see some of the stuff FLT and RPM has out there that seems to be living and it impresses and surprises me. I prefer to start with a more rugged design and improve upon that. I'm also not targeting the average daily driver 4th Gen Camaro with what we do, we're not trying to sell hundreds of transmissions a year to the 400-500 HP combos. We specialize in the more potent combos. I would say that this year 80% of our builds have been for the 800+ HP customers. The vendors who cater to the 4L60E market have done a good job and we're not here to compete with them and never have been. One of my personal side projects is designing a 4L60E transbrake taking some of the lessons learned with our 4L80E transbrake. Hopefully this can augment what the other vendors are doing, but we still won't be building 4L60E's except to local customers that we feel a 4L60E will adequately fill their needs. |
Glad you're finally a sponsor on here. I'll be in contact with you sometime in the not too distant future for a valvebody swap in my MVB 4l80'd '98 trans am. |
