trans temp question

I just finish installing my new circle d converter and my rebuilt performabuilt trans. i took the car out on a 30 mile trip and the trans temp readings on my interceptor gauge got up to 203 but on my gauge that has a sending unit in trans pan was reading was 180. I installed the new hayden cooler they sent me. before i had the trans rebuilt my temps on the interceptor never went above 185. im really confused on whats causing it to run so hot. any ideas?

is this converter looser than the old one-what happens on lockup

i dont think it is my vig was really lose and what do you mean

They are being measured in different locations thus different temp readings. 200 is not too hot. I have my gauge in the pressure port it runs about 20 degrees hotter then one in the pan. The intercepter reads back from inside the trans also.

yeah i figured as much. i just have not seen it run that hot when its 40* outside

The stock sending unit is in the valve body and does seem to show about 20-30 hotter then low mounted pan sending unit. Perfectly normal.

that makes sense i still am a little puzzled as to y the trans got so hot the other night

Well I guess that explains why my readings always seem higher than everyone elses that has aftermarket sending unit. I was thinking there was something wrong with my cooler.

How big a cooler are you running and take it off the radiator one(stock) Unless you drive it in sub zero temps. If this is bothering you. Don't check the engine oil temps they run real high.:D

Not trying to highjack the thread, but I am having just the opposite problems. I'm curious as to whether my trans gauge is working right or not. I got it out the other day (first time I've had the car out with the gauge installed) and I never seen temps over 150. Its a Autometer sport comp, sender is mounted in pressure port about shift linkage. Any ideas??

im not running it through the radiator and im not really sure the size its just just the one performabuilt sent me
