Question No reverse im my 93 4l60e.. Sun shell is fine

I lost reverse in my 4l60e. Ive since pulled it half way apart figured it was the sun shell. Nope it is intact and not stripped. The fluid and the pan looked good. Clutches also are not worn or burnt. What could it be?? I know it could be quite a few issues, blown seal or stuck check ball. But any info would be great so I can at least get a good start somewhere. Thanks!!

Yes every thing seemed to be working fine. As far as engine braking goes in first, not sure.

Well keep this in mind... in order for that unit to achieve reverse both shift solenoids will be on, the reverse input clutch and the low reverse clutches will be applied. And that's it.

So if it's been doing fine and the lost reverse all of a sudden, I would suspect the reverse input piston has lost a seal or suffered some other failure.

Thanks that's the answer I was looking for. I haven't hot that far in disassembly to inspect the seals. If the seals are good, anything else it could be? Thanks
