Default Need some general info on 4l60's

Traded my LT car for a 99 TA that needs a tranny. Are all 4l60's the same(except 4x4) or is there certain years I need to be looking at?

Electronics are different in some years. Pretty much LT1 era 4l60s are a big no no. You need to focus on 98-up. Truck trans's will work to an extent, though if you have a tail-shaft mounted torque arm still you must retain your tail-housing if you go the truck trans route. I bolted a 98 firebird trans in my car after I had it built. I bought a truck tail on purpose and put it on the trans because my torque arm is relocated. I think you want to stay away from the 4x4 trans's also. This may help.........

I just picked up a 2000 4L80e for $150. How difficult is it to put this in the car?
Also I would love to get rid of that torque arm, what some suggestions on what to use for that?

In an F-body? Yes it will fit. I'm pretty sure there is a link in the Sticky at the top of this section to show you what all you need to do. And BTW, stock 4l80s arent that great, plus they are big, heavy, and suck up hp. Once built though they are probably pretty indestructible.

I'm coming from the truck world and 4L60's are junk and I'm not sure how well they hold up in the cars is why I was wondering.
Also what are the suggested relocating torque arm crossmembers to use with the stock torque arms?
