4l60e to 6l80e LS1 Trans Am
Now before I get people trolling me and telling me to read other threads I already have and I didnt find much info.
Its really a simple question. Is it possible to put a 6 speed auto in an ls1, or is the wiring and configuration to much? Im just dying to know if its possible. Ive heard their are sites who make conversions, but then again people are usually bullshitting half the time. If anyone can give me an honest answer id really appreciate it.

It will not work with the LS1 you need a Gen IV motor to interface with the TCM in the trans.
Convert the LS1 to a Gen IV with 58x crank trigger or swap to an LS2/3

Thanks for your help, so are you saying it is not possible at all, or with the 58x crank trigger it is possible? I really dont want to resort to using my 4l60e, and I'd rather not put a manual in the car.

I want the two extra gears for the drive ability, better gas mileage, etc. Im gonna be putting down about 500 hp to the wheels just motor, im having my engine stroked out to a 383 with forged internals. Also its going to run on e85 to give it a little more boost

The newer engine controller has a dedicated high speed communication circuit between it and the TCM in the 6L's. The TCM will just until that circuit works correctly. Might be a software upgrade out there, but I don't know about it.

i think the 6 sp has a lower 1 st gear and higher OD-i just got a new 2011 truck with the 6 sp-you have to paddle thru the gears if you want something other than 6 sp's, no room on a shifter for 6 detents
so, even if you could interface with it, you would need a paddle shifter
i know at one time there was no aftermarket controller, so that leads me to belive your current ecu cant control it
while i like the truck, it shifts way to much, they back the rear down to
3.42's from 3.73's, i liked the 3.73's and 4 sp for daily driving
hard to see underneath, but looks like the 6 sp is smaller than the 4L80E, but would like to see them side by side
i thought the TCI's were in the $4500 range with all the bells and whistles, lol
