TCI's "EZ-TCU" Hi All, I'm helping on a friend's '68 Camaro with LS3 & 4L80E using the TCI controller. It gives a constant TPS error code that never clears. We loop-checked the harness and it's fine. The TPS has 1000 ohms closed and 7800 ohms full open. After calibration, the hand-held shows 0% closed and 100% open just as expected. We called TCI today and the guy (Rick?) said they cannot be calibrated on the low end unless the pedal is "slightly depressed". We tried it and the TPS base in the hand-held stayed on 0% until around 3000 rpm's. I'm calling BS on this, if this was the case there'd be an update to the manual. Any ideas ? ? ? |

Sorry, forgot to mention it's carb'ed. :nod: Anyway, got it figured out today. An old "friend" (Greg Friend) who used to work at TCI forwarded my e-mail to him on to one of TCI's engineers, Kevin Winstead. Bottom line is, the TPS needs to show > 0.2v at the "throttle closed" position or it sets a code. Ours was showing 0.1v. Slotting the mounting screws and moving the TPS back a tinch was all it took to get 0.2v closed. :D After calibrating the closed/open position, the code is no longer there. THIS NEEDS TO BE IN THE MANUAL! :buttkick: |
Man, don't even get me fired up on this deal! I went round and round with that controller and those yahoo's at TCI and finally got ahold of somebody that knew what the hell was going on! Talk about user friendly :eek2::( |

good info, i was looking at that controller for a future project doesnt FAST make it, or is it TCI's |
I had this issue over a year ago and none of the techs i talked to new a thing. Told me the controler was bad and to send it back. Finally after the 3rd controler they figured it out. I told them to put this in the instructions or manual back then and still wasn't added?? |

I was going to suggest clocking the TPS sensor. Snip off the little locating nipple under the sensor, and slot the holes for the machine screw (I cut the whole side off, in the shape of a "c" and clock it with a voltmeter in hand. (or EfiLive, whichever is more convenient) |
