what 4l60e's will work? 98 Camaro

Hi,
I searched and it is possibly beat to death, but before I give someone advice I must absolutely know.

What 4l60e's will bolt right in to replace a dead one in a 98 Z28? It seems the answer is any 2wd, rwd vehicle after 98. Is this absolutely correct? The local scrap yard shows a few transmissions in stock for 2wd trucks, nothing for fbodies.

How hard is it to swap over tailshaft housings? I've let this person know that relocation mounts are an option to deal with the torque arm, BUT the person is on a budget!

On that note, why the price differnces then at the following list? My mind says probably mileage, but would all these transmissions bolt right in? Nothing needs modifying?

Year Model Exact Side Description Price
2005 TSILV1500 NA 4.8,AOD 4X2 408 $500.00
2004 TSILV1500 NA 4.3,AOD 408 $500.00
2002 SILVRDO15 NA 5.3,AOD 408 $650.00
2002 TSILV1500 NA 4.8,AOD 4X2 408 $600.00

Thanks in advance! The help is much appreciated!

The tailshaft is just 4 bolts to swap it out. The bell housing is a pain with out the correct super torx drive. The normal torx drive will strip out the bolt head most of the time.

The tail is 6 bolts. 4 bolts is the older style.

Thanks, so there is no weird issue with the tailshaft, t/a relocation mount is def. unnecessary then.

Is that correct then on the transmissions? Any of them will bolt up, no weird converter issues, or length issues, wiring???

I'll take the lack of replies as a yes?

So has anyone put a truck 4l60e behind a LS1? Just trying to help someone I hardly know get her daily driver back on the road! If so just need to know if anything besides swapping the tailshaft housing needs to be done.

I asked a similar question and my result was to get another trans from the correct F-body. and.........if you are doing this for a female and you know that if it isn't right.......oh boy! My suggestion is get one from another car within your year range. Good Luck
