Default 4l60e rear case damage fixable??

98 4l60e with a rear lube problem.the very back inside the trans where the very first bearing rides is ground down almost a 1\4 of an inch. Is there anyway to save this? The snap ring groove is still there with a little bit of wall to hold it. But is ground down to the first lube bushing hole. I noticed a qtr of an inch of end play of the input shaft and went ahead and tore it all the way down to find the culprit and unfortunatelly found that.

I have bought several "broken" 4L60E on craigslist for $100, where "broken" means it doesn't have reverse or no 3rd gear or other common problem. The case and all the hard parts are fine. You might consider that solution and it might be cheaper than an elaborate and still questionable fix. Just my 2 cents.
