Default Proper way to check mesurements for TC.

So I've been reading and I would like to know or see a proper way to check the measurements when it comes to installing a new/used TC.. I understand that it needs to be 1 1/8 from the bellhousing to the converter tab and from the converter to the flex plate should be under 3/16 and 1/8 is perfect.. Is there any once who has an actual video or pictures showing exactly how and what they're using to measure ?

On the bottom of the bellhousing there is a thin dome of sheet metal held on with little tabs. Pop that out and you can see the flex plate and tc. Use a drill bit, the kind that is the same diameter the whole length, not those with the hexagonal part that goes into the chuck, as a gauge.

Just make sure that you get the tc all the way into the pump and keep it there while mounting the trans. Also clean the pins on the motor and coat them in antiseize before installing the trans. Make sense?

+1 for for using the drill bit. the converter has to be within 1/8 of an inch or so of the flexplate. it'll have to be shimmed if its greater than that 1/8

Ideal clearance is .080" - .125". Anytime you bring down the clearance with shims, all three must be the same thickness, no more than .001" variation among the three.
