Ultra Newb Question, Does Axle Ratio matter in trans selection?
My 99 T/A has the optional "Rear Perform Axle, 3.23 Ratio"
Does this matter when getting a new transmission?
Winner of extreme n00b?
-Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry no one has answered you yet; it is kinda of an unusual question.
Since there is no choice in gear ratios in automatic transmissions, I am not sure what you are asking. The stock 4L60E has a 1st gear ratio of 3.06.
You could get a 4L80E which has a 1st gear ratio of 2.48, but that is a moderately complex swap. There are hyper-expensive custom parts to change these ratios, but I am sure you are not asking that.
With a stock-ish motor, and a 3.23 rear, you probably want the lower 4L60E ratio. I have a 3.42 rear in my mostly street car and am considering switching to 3.73.
Was I anywhere close to answering your question? If not, give us more details.
