4l60e won't shift bad pcm?? I have a 2002 5.3 and a 2002 4.3 4l60 bolted to it, the transmission is stick in first gear and won't shift out of it I hooked the scanner to it and there's no codes and drove it while shifting it manually with the scanner and it works fine I sent the pcm back to current performance so they could reflash the computer and still didn't work, there thinking it could be a bad computer any ideas? |
There is no trouble codes coming up on the scanner |
Is the VSS hooked up and working; in other words does your speedometer work? What vehicle speed was the scanner showing? Not sure that you could even shift with a scanner if you have the "M6" segment, but are you sure the PCM has the OS/Segment for the A4 automatic? |

Have the speedometer work and scanner show the same speed is good. There are basically two variations of the PCM - one for manual transmissions and one for automatic transmissions. The difference is software and a tuner can change from one to the other. The difference is often called a "Segment" which is part of the OS (Operating System). In short, the PCM is acting like it has the manual transmission segment. Where did the PCM come from? |

Are you saying that it will shift with the scanner hooked or that it will shift if you shift it manually with the shifter? Does your scanner show that the PCM is commanding the solenoids to perform the 1-2 shift? |
Since your speedometer is working and your scanner can read the MPH from the PCM, and the scanner can shift gears, I think there is something wrong with the PCM. |

In 1st gear both solenoids are no. In 2nd gear A solenoid is turned off and B solenoid stays on. Does the scanner show that the PCM is commanding the A solenoid to turn off when it get to the speed where you feel like it should shift? I'm not sure about the S10 PCM. The F bodies use a body control Module for some of those things. |
Sounds like a car out of Poltergeist II. Or Christine. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085333/ Limp mode is 3rd gear; I assume you noticed that then. The Christine-like symptoms indicate a bundle of electrical problems; none of those systems go through the PCM. |
Did you unplug the speed sensor too? That would cause most of those symptoms. |
