Default 4l80E with parking brake on tail shaft. Can I use the tail shaft?

I'm picking up a LY6 and 4l80 out of a box van (2009). The 80E has the parking brake on the tail shaft like most box truck set ups do. I haven't seen the shaft close up, but does anyone know if I can reuse the shaft if I pull the brake or do I need to replace it? I tried searching but found nothing on this particular topic. Thanks in advance.

Jake's said that every one they've messed with was about 1" longer than a normal 2wd tailhousing.
