An occasional thing I see mentioned in rebuild is resetting the shift adapt so that computer learns the new transmission and shifting. I can't seem to find a whole lot of information of it except for specialized tuning.

Is this necessary after a rebuild?

Can it be done by leaving the battery unhooked overnight or is the special scanner needed?


My transmission is a 96' 4l60e.
