Default Stall Guru's Needed - 6L80E

I'm considering Brian Tooley's stage 3 ZL1 cam for my build (231/248 .617"/.595" 120+5 ) but could not determine what size stall I would need. The current planned setup is as follows
  • 6L80E (potentially 6L90E)
  • 3.23 rear gears
  • Magnacharger 2300
  • 6.2 LS3

The other cam I was looking at would only need a 2800 stall minimum. I would need about a 3200 for this one wouldn't I?

What are you plans with the car? Street vs strip. Intended usage helps us determine how aggressive we can get. The Maggie is gong to have great low end torque, but that is decent size cam and will raise the RPM band a bit. I think you are on the right track, 2800 for more DD use and 3200 range for better track times. I think a 258mm will work very well, and I would suggest a multi disk for the power you will be making.

Definitely more of a DD car than anything. I'm shooting for around a 750ish rwhp range so I was planning on a triple disk since it's not too much more. Thanks for the advice!

I have a 2010 Camaro SS with the 6L80E and drove around with a Circle D 258m 2B (~3200) in my car for 6,000 miles. Was great. Along with other mods (3.91 gear, bolt-ons), went 11.8 and best mph of 115 with stock engine.

I now have GPI VVT SS3 cam (227/243 112), Bo White ported heads, and we just installed a Circle D 245m 4C which will probably stall around 3800 (haven't made a pass yet).

Car drives nice.

I think you'll want a 3200 minimum to pair with that cam.

Have Chris at Circle D spec you one out. He did the converter in my G8 and it literally came out PERFECT. Was completely tolerable on the street and ran like a raped ape when you opened it up.

I have that cam and a 2800-3000 stall on a 4L80. Idles at 850, drives great on the street, launches good at the strip. I have to have my foot on the brake at stop lights, so it is not a loose converter. Mine is a single clutch, but I only lock up in 4th when I am street driving. I think 3200 is probably a better dual purpose converter.
However, I would probably NOT change mine for a 3200. It is a full weight car.

Just can't go wrong with Circle D!! Great products! And that's from a gear banger guy!
