Default 4L60e vs T-56

Hey guys, quick question. I feel like my car is slower whenever I run a counter version of my car. I raced a stock 98-02 Camaro Z/28 6 speed and We're head to head but but all of sudden he started to pull on me. We did do a 60 roll & I was in 2nd gear. I don't know if the gearing takes a major roll on comparison too. We took off and I couldn't believe he was starting to pull on me. I don't know for the auto cars if you strictly race in, "D." Or you can do the semi-auto availability? My rear end is shot too since it was whining before the race. Don't know if my performance has decreased because of crippled rear end (2:73 gears.) My question is, is a T-56 faster then a 4L60e from a ROLL. Or I'm just not driving it right? I honestly feel like my '96 Trans Am was a lot quicker from rolls & dig races compared to the '99 Trans Am. Both cars were bone stock.

Stock for stock a manual Fbody will rape an auto from a roll. Less power loss to the wheels and a direct link as opposed to a fluid coupling as well as closer gear ratios. The auto needs a stall to compete but even then the m6 car will still be quicker in a roll.

Autos will be faster at the track and the hole shot will be better with a stalled auto but the roll still goes to the 6spd

2.73 cars blow unless your doing 75 mph roll racing lol, especially with a stock converter. The shift extensions are lame with a stock converter
Put 3.73's and a converter in your car and that thing will absolutely rip

**** bro, I thought about getting 3:73 gears and a yank 3200 stall. I don't know how that set-up will do against a M6 F-Body either way.

From a dig you will make him look goofy,
My exhaust, yank 3600 3.73's 12.40
My buddies exhaust m6 12.68
From a first gear roll I immediately jump a car in front and hold at least that till I hit 3rd (75mph) then by about 110 he is about 1 car ahead
From a 45 roll ( bottom of my 2nd ) I jump 1/2 car then he slowly pulls. 3rd gear for them is a pretty strong gear and where a lot of the damage is done lol

That's a really good set-up. I thought about getting Pacesetter Long tube headers, ORY, 3200 stall and that's about it for now.

You also have a lt1 and he has a ls1. You would lose if you both had the same transmission 10/10 times. Unless you have something done you aren't saying.

He's talking about his 2.73 99 TA. My car originally came with 2.73's and it felt noticeably slower than my previous 3.23 LT1 car - up to about 4500rpm, where the LS1 power really comes on. Trouble with 2.73's and stock converter, it takes forever to get there.

My experience with stalled & 3.23 or lower geared LS1 is that an M6 won't catch up until the way top end - speeds you typically don't reach in stoplight to stoplight action; that is, if you go from a dig or lower speeds and don't blow the tires off.

Let's not turn this thread into "which one is better" or it'll be locked. His question involves gearing, stall speed, and shift extension in an A4 when roll racing an M6.

I would start by getting a 3.73 (or at least 3.42) rear. I think that will be your best bang for the buck. Next would be a higher stall converter.
