Default powerglige vs turbo 400

Hi, have a lq4 with a 76 mm turbo 13lbs boost 350 gear, have a t400 in the car now best 60' is 1.35 with a best 1/4 mile time of 9.65 @ 3450 wt, the trans is making a noise and wondered if it would be better to go with the built powerglide i have on the shelf instead, thanks for your imput!

Im no trans expert but I was told when figuring out a trans for mine that a PG will not hold up for a car weighing more than 2900lbs.

Powerglides can be built to handle several THOUSAND horsepower. They are so simple, there's just not much to break. Upgraded clutches, planataries, and valve body will hold well at your power level i think

Your first gear ratio will be MUCH wider. 1.76 (or 1.82) for the glide vs 2.48 for the th400. This will probably mean a change of rear gears and a very different ride down the 1/4.

Plus driveshaft change, trans mount change, linkages etc

Might be best to look into rebuilding the th400 for your build rather than switching over
