Default th400 Converter bolting to ls 5.3

Ok I have a 5.3, I bought the ATP 270Z flexplate with adapter (this is the ATP flat flex plate with adapter in it), I'm running it like it should (spacer, flex plate, conveter) but the issue is the converter hub is against the spacer (it went in, just can't go any further in), and the converter tab are 1/4" off the flex plate….

Any ideas?

(converter is a TCI, some I had behind a gen 1 BBC motor with a TH400)

I search, and everything I read about the ATP flex plate is that it all should bolt together and fit correctly with the right amount of converter play and the converter tabs reach correctly...

Is it hitting the heads of the crank bolts? The bolt heads look a lot taller than stock, May be just the picture though.

the hub on my converter is not machined far enough. I checked the end play on the converter to trans and i have to shim it anyway so that fix the issue!

How far out of the trans is the conv. pulled b4 it stops
In an ideal world with the conv. seated in the trans, there should be aprx 3/16 gap to the FW
What is the distance from the back of the block to the BACK of the FW teeth
As I remember it is about 7/16 for proper starter engag.

With the converter seated in the trans, I have 7/32 gap between flex plate pads and converter pads.
after playing with it a bit last night, it comes to 3/32 from the flex plate to the converter pads, but clearly the spacer is what's stoping it from 0 gap, which at this point I don't think is an issue since I'd have to shim it anyway to get

I had the same issue with a pioneer sfi flexplate, a Delco adapter and a high stall th400 converter. I had to shim the converter as well but there was not enough forward play which could cause thrust bearing issues. So in the end the answer was this Name: C682A9A2-D547-4372-8067-20C5799A98BF_zpsbtiacd2e.jpg
