trans is starting to run hot..... i was starting to see my temps rise to around 180. i have a 19k cooler. would it be smart to upgrade to a bigger one? maybe 28K.. J |
I would say 180 is fine especially if your still running your trans fluid thru your radiator since the heat exchanger in the radiator will actually cause the fluid temp to rise to the same temp as the engine coolant. |
If you run the fans with the fan switch, does the trans temp stay nice and low? You might want to have the low fan run full time in the summer, or have it programmed to run at lower temps so as to support the low temp 'stat? Given that the 160 'stat sets a head coolant temp of about 177F the 180F tranny temp seems about in line - the internal trans cooler is at the outlet side and all. |
yah from what ive researched 180 is just fine 200 and over avoid WOT. |

you may want to consider by-passing the tranny radiator heat exchanger... swaping the fluid out a couple of times also keeps the tranny temperature lower - fluid that has too many miles - and is off color gets hotter faster and does a lot of bad stuff.... |
