a4 wont bounces rev before 3rd gear
I have 98 Camaro ss ls1 A4 it has 3.73 gears I put headers fast 92intake an 92 tb on got my car tuned an took it to the strip after 3 passes it wont go into 3rd gear it just bangs the rev an im over 6000 .... so I got with my tuner an he is saying a tranny cooler is what I need do you agree an I see there are coolers with fans an thermostats I would assume that would be the best ... any suggestions??? thanks and is there any good ay to get the most transmission fluid out by changing it myself?

Safest thing to do would be to lower your shift point mph and rpm slightly. If it still hits the rev limiter something is wrong with the tranny as it's taking to long to shift. Try lowering it by 5mph and maybe like 200rpm. Say 5800RPM because there is always a delay in shifting so it won't actually shift until close to 6,000RPM.

both posts above are good advice. check fluid level...add a half quart extra, make sure you have a good trams cooler, and the wot mph needs to be lowered vs mph with a stall car by 2-4mph. If it still acts up after these points above have been addressed, then the trans needs rebuilt.

make sure fluid level is not only full, but a little over and is not burnt
get a large trans cooler immediately
change the trans filter
make 100% sure the tuner adjusted the MAF and VE table correctly, set the line pressure to increase (mine maxes above 300ft/lbs calculated tq), and shift mph/rpm might need to be dropped a little on the 2-3
55,000 isn't much mileage so I wouldn't be as quick to blame a failed 3-4 clutch set as I would with a higher mileage car
Another important thing: does this happen with the shifter in 3 or D or when the shifter is in 4 or OD? It's not recommended to run with the car in 3 or D unless you have the Sonnax HD 2-3 shift valve which helps prevent a 2-3 shift flare caused by the trans trying to engage 3rd gear clutches and overrun clutches at the same time.
