Yank SS4000 vs SS4000E what's the diff?
 
Like the title says I have the SS4000 and bought it when it came out now I see the 4000E converter, what's the diff?

From what Mike told me the only difference now between the SS series and the SSE series is that the SS has 3 lugs while the SSE have 6 lugs, internally they are identical.

No they are different, the E series is a multi-disc design, it will handle a power-adder more efficiently than a non E series. It also has the posi-lockup clutch -- they are totally different.

I have the E series and ran a friend with a PT4000 on the street once upon a time and he has dyno'd more then me and I was right next to him -- I don't have any dyno's with 4000E though :(

I don't think I'll be changing it out, dont really want to spend the money, already spent enough on this buildup I'll just stick with the SS4000 for awhile. If I ever do change it out you'll be the first to know ;)

Well like I said I talked with Mike when I bought the SS3600 and that's what he told me. I was going to order an SS4000E, he suggested the SS3800 instead and said the internals are identical. Apparently at one time they were different but now they're the same.

PT series rule over SS series lol You'll trap higher mph and get lower ets with a PT series.

The SS will be a tighter stall ,but if you are considering a 4000 stall anyhow you won't be disappointed in the PT series explosiveness, tire will be a must. The SS series for a daily driver is about perfect though .

If the are the same, why the price difference and why does he advertise them differently?

Not arguing just asking, If that is indeed what he is doing then people should know about it. I'm gonna be hella pissed if the only reason I paid more for the E series on both of my converters has been because it has 6-bolt mounting lugs.

Do you remember/know what your converter weighed? Mine weighed in at 31lbs. Weigh it when you get it, that'll be an easy way to tell if they are really different.

Theoretically yours should be a few pounds lighter if all he does is add bolting lugs to the hub.

ANY "E" Yank converter has 6-bolt mounting lugs and a posi-loc clutch with kevlar linings. You're getting alot for your money if you need these things. For NA performance these things will not help unless you're making a tremendous amount of power. :burn:
