Default P1860 TCC Solenoid, where to start?

Hey everyone, i just got back from using a scanner at a buddies house and the car is throwing a P1860, seems its a tranny code for the TCC solenoid, Im not sure where to even start. Is this just a solenoid that can go bad?..... I recently (4 months ago) dropped the pan and changed the fluid and while i was in there i changed the 1-2 shift solenoid and the 3-4 shift solenoid. I didn't notice anything odd after the change. Everything seemed fine. What should i do? Its my daily driver and i don't want to ruin my Transmission by driving it when i shouldn't.

EDITI finally getting around to changing the TCC solenoid. I dropped the pan and there looks like a lot of metallic dust on the magnet. I haven't changed the solenoid yet i wanted to post these pics and see what people thought and if there is anything else i should do/look at while I have the pan off.

What problems do you notice while driving other than a code?

Yes, any solenoid can go bad. More info would help diagnose if it's likely a bad solenoid or something else making the computer think the solenoid is having problems.

"P1860

Description
Torque converter clutch pulse width modulation solenoid

Code type, Electrical

Symptoms
Trans may slip as it holds in 3rd gear
Disable shift adapts
Inhibits TCC
Inhibits 4th gear in hot mode

Causes
Failure of pressure control solenoid
Failure of TCC/PWM solenoid
Short in wire harness
Loss of 12v on pin E

Solutions
Check for 12v on pin E
Check for Ohms on pins C-D, 3-5ohms at 68*f If out of range, replace EPC
Check for Ohms on pins T-E, 10-12ohms at 68*f, if out of range replace TCC/PWM solenoid
Check for short on wire harness"

The only issue I'm really having is the car seems to run rough when it gets really warmed up but i just attributed that to me still not getting it tuned for all the stuff in my sig.

I threw the scanner on the car because i had the car die on me when i was driving after a really heavy rain. Still haven't solved that problem but its looking like a water issue, i just figured out i have the cowl leaking onto the intake manifold that plagues these cars.

What harness is ''solutions'' telling me to check? I have a DVOM i can check it with. Thank you for the help.

The wire harness for the transmission. I guess I should ask, is this a 4l60e?

If it were me with my low level of experience, I'd try replacing the TCC solenoid and the EPC solenoid, since that's 2 out of 4 things the code says it can be. They're cheap and I don't believe either of them require the valve body to be removed. Between the pan drop/reinstall and the solenoid changes, you could probably do everything in about an hour.

But, there could also be something indirectly causing these solenoids to fail i.e. nothing's wrong with the solenoids themselves. One of the forum experts could suggest an alternative potential problem.

Have you checked line pressure?

EDIT:
Holy crap, these solenoids have gotten a LOT more expensive from when I rebuilt my transmission March 2015. I bought an AC Delco kit with all 5 solenoids, MPS, and wire harness for $130. Now it's showing just the EPC solenoid almost costs that.

Maybe just try the TCC solenoid? You could probably rule out a bad EPC solenoid by checking the line pressure.

I finally got a chance to drop the pan and i took a few pictures. What do you guys think? This looks like a lot of metal shavings to me. The 3rd picture is of the pan once i washed it out. I noticed these scrape marks on the bottom of the pan. Is this an indicator of something? I do not remember seeing these marks the last time i dropped the pan and changed the filter.

Well i think the solenoid was the problem .....as soon as i pulled on the connector to unplug it, it came right off. So easy i didn't even notice it was broken at first. I honestly didn't notice it until i got the solenoid all the way out.

EDIT I installed the new solenoid and refilled the transmission. I also cleaned the IAC valve and the IAT sensor. I drove the car around and it is noticeably smoother. It feels like the car is shifting smoother and it feels like the idle is much smoother (the IAC was really dirty). Either way I'm very happy. Thank you cory for the tips and advice.
