Obviously not a stock Powerglide.
Why not tell us more about what the transmission has and what engine and car this is begin used in.
Or will it just sit on a table in the living room?

Lol...

Just got finished putting it in the GTO, and today was its maden voyage other than just going up and down the street working the bugs out. Engine is a stock bottom end LS2 that made a tick over 500rwhp long ago when it was a T-56, before the 4L65e, and now this. Should get close to 100 miles on it today by the time I get home. Converter is a UCC 8" 5800 stall. The transbrake, transbrake lockout, and the Gear Vendors overdrive use factory buttons. Used a custom 17 tooth reluctor and an electronic Th-400 VSS so the factory gauges would read as if OEM. The original carbon fiber driveshaft I used for both the T-56 and 4L65e worked in this application as well. All three transmissions are within an 1/8" of each other. Transmission was built by Hutch's Transmission Service. Has basically all the latest high end parts you can throw at a glide, latest case, Sonnax servo, etc., along with 1.80 straight cut gears.

Was a beautiful and issueless drive today. Put 106 miles on the new combo without any problems. Push button overdrive was awesome, and everything worked as intended. I'll be lifting it up to swap out the fluid once I hit around 250 miles. Same with the GV unit.

Thanks for the additional info.
What gear ratios do you have available? 3 or 4?
A 1.80 first with a 5800 stall doesn't sound like an optimal combo to me, certainly not for city driving.

I have different rear diffs that I can swap in and out, but I have the 4:11 in it right now. Works great with the overdrive when you need it. Optimal depends on your definition of optimal, but you might be surprised at how easy it is to drive.

Happy you like it, but in terms of RPM recovery it's a wide-ratio 3 speed.

I'll never use overdrive on the track, so it will be a 2 speed. Powerglides use the converter instead of relying solely on gearing. Should be no more than 1200rpm between the full run, and shift extension will be around 900-950rpm.

How's 1st gear driving around under low throttle situations?

Just fine. Converter seems very efficient at light throttle. I drove it over a third of the 100 miles yesterday in some decently thick traffic. No issues at all.

Lenny at Ultimate Converter Concepts built the 8".

Nice, those 4.11's really help out too.

Yeah UCC is pretty solid.

Yes they do. And my SLR is 7.40, so it should be plenty honestly.

Lenny is a great converter guy. Super nice to talk to on the phone as well.

Just wanted to give an update on this. I have about 1500 issue-less miles on the combo so far. I absolutely love it. I drove it for two days on power tour after swapping back in the highway diff with 3.46 gears. Was super easy to drive at speed, and the higest temp I saw was around 182 in some fairly heavy Austin traffic. Took more effort off the line as was expected, but made cruising power tour easier. All and all, it was a great decision to do this swap. I'll be swapping the 4:11 diff back in for some track fun soon, and I'll update the thread with some times.

How did the Powerglide / GV combo work out for you? I did the same behind a 416 LS in a 3150 lb Drag Week N/A car and have been less than satisfied with the ET with as low as a 4.57 gear.
Just wondering if you stuck with the glide and kept it N/A.

What length output shaft on the PG and what part number for the GV unit with the adapters? Where did you get the reluctor ring?
I'm making this move in a month or so.
I'm losing the 2-3 shift in the 4L60e and I don't want put another one in...

That is just a "shorty" glide with a gear vendor. You have to call gear vendor to order one of their units.
