Who's conveter to use

I had not been having good luck with my fti converter it has been restalled many times and I still feel the car isn't working right. I'm looking at going with Neal chance, circle d or PTC out of those 3 who is the out right best if money was no iusse? The motor is a lighter weight car with a s480 92mm exhuast 1.10ar on a 5.3 th400 3.27 gears with a ljms custom cam used 95% for drag racing when the turbo gets to working the car moves out 10.6 at 130 but the car is very soft down low like 2.0 60 foot times with a good 60 I know it's a high 9s car and it's not spinning it's just a dog off the line leaving at 2900 the iusse with the converter is they can't seem to get it loses enough down low and tight enough up top

I have a Circle D and it's been good. I'm not sure there is a one best converter, you'll have to make a choice from those that are known to make quality parts and hope for the best. Talk to the those on you list and choose from the one that best answers your questions.

Circle D!! Nuff said....

Just there packaging alone tells you the quality of there product.

how loose do you want it. for my taste my fti convertor is just perfect. stalls around 5200 up to 6000 depending on boost. rev out to 7200. car flys

wannabeturbo May 9, 2016 07:06 PM

They have my stall at 2900ish way to tight for a big turbo 5.3 needs to be around 3800+ is my guess my 5.3 needs more rpm and boost to cut a good 60 2lb and 2900 is not cutting it

I think I need to leave on 5-10 lbs

Lots of the turbo guys run ptc. Thats all I know about turbos. Hope this helps.

I like PTC.

ICRAZY6 May 13, 2016 08:55 AM

Are you using a converter with a single clutch or multi?

MM98 May 13, 2016 05:27 PM

I'd look into a transbreak & 2 step as well. Those two would really help with your 60 issues.

FIVEPOINT7 May 13, 2016 09:42 PM

Pretty much everybody is going to give their +1 to whichever converter they use and prefer. I use a Yank, and will continue to use Yank for all my converter needs for the foreseeable future. The converter is great, and their customer service is second to none. That being said, PTC, Vigilante, Yank, Circle D, etc are all good converters and I have yet to see anything negative about any of them. Call them, and go with whatever one says what you want to hear and gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.

I most say the owner of fti is a great guy to deal with. He's sending me some stuff to try even tho I have went with someone else converter so I will be putting the fti converter back in the car to do some testing and see which is better I shouldn't have gotten upset and just called and talked to the owner him self. But if he's still willing to help me get the car right just shows what kinda of stand up guy he is I will test the stuff he sent me and let everyone know how both converter works one way or another this car will make its fastest pass this year I have two great shops helping with the car
