Default Machining 4l60e pump

Just a quick question... the back half of the pump on my 4l60e has some wear where the pump vanes run.

I have a good sized lathe and the tooling, can I just face it down to clean it up without messing anything else up?

If you machine the area where the pump vanes run, you also need to machine the main part of the pump by the same amount so that the depth of pump depression remains the same.
This is exactly what FinishLine Transmissions does with every rebuilt pump. See the pics:

Thanks. It's the rear half of the pump with the stator which is flat anyway that is worn. The actual pocket in the front half is fine.

I'd have to confirm with e.g. Chuck at FLT, but since he machines the front half by a few thousands, I cannot image a problem with machining the rear half by a few thousands.

I've done it... .020 skimmed off to clean up.

That looks very nice. 20 thousands sounds like a lot, hopefully it works.
