Default What's involved in swapping over a pre 97 4l80 4wd to 2wd

what's involved as far as time / money in swapping a 4wd to a 2wd model now , as the threads and pricing are probably different as it's become a much more common occurrence . And would it be better in the long run to just by jakes 4l80 with t brake full reverse manual vb and all for 3600? I've given up on the idea of a t56 handling the power I'm about to lay down , and th cost to maintain one too do so could get absurd . That and the fact autos are way faster and always in boost have made my decision to switch back much easier

You would have to completely tear down the unit to replace the output shaft and you would need to remove a couple of cup plugs to allowed lube return from tail housing.
With the tear down you pretty close to a rebuild other than parts this assuming the unit is in great shape pre 1997 would be in question unless recently rebuilt or built.
