Well I have a 01 z28 I just purchased. 3rd and 4th gear are gone, I am wanting to know IF I can use a 4l60e from any other vehicle or if it specifically needs to be from a F body. I was TOLD I could use any from a 4.3 s10 or a blazer and just change the bellhousing and tailshaft.

Any insight would be appreciated this is my first LS car was a previous lt1 owner.

Input shaft splines are different for V6 and older V8 motors. You'll want to use a tranny from an LS based V8 up through 2006 or 2007. The most common units were attached to 5.3's in trucks and SUV's.
