Default Yank Truck Thruster 2600 or Circle-D 300mm 2600 for towing

Ok guys, I am still undecided on if I should switch over to a higher stall converter for my current mods and for towing. I tow very often and tow right around 7,000 lbs. My GVWR is between 12,500-13,000 lbs when fully loaded with supplies and passengers. I use the Truck as a Daily, I do go to the Strip to mess around and race some friends about twice a month, as well as tow about every 2 weeks.

I have a 2007.5 NNBS Silverado Extended Cab LTZ 4X4, Gen4 LMG 5.3 Iron Block, Built 4L70E, 4.56 Gears and LT305/70R17 All Terrain Tires. The weight of my current tires and 17" rim weights 5-lbs more per corner than my stock P275/55R20 Tire/Rim Combo, in case anyone was wondering. Truck weighs 5,500 lbs, 6,200 shift points and 6,400 Max Rpm.

Motor Mods;
-TSP-PRC Stage 1 Ported 243 heads milled to 63cc
-BTR Truck Stage 2 Cam, 212/218 .553/.553 113+2
-ARH 1-3/4" x 3" Longtubes with 3" Corsa Sport Catback
-LS7 Throttle Body
-Airaid Jr. Kit with Dry Filter
-TSP AFM/DOD Delete kit
-4L70E is completely built, with Mag-Hytec Deep Pan and TruCool 40k Cooler.
Trans temps will stay 65 degrees hotter than outside temps up to 170, I have not seen over 170 degrees when not towing.
While towing, Trans will stay at 190-195 Degree's and have not seen anything over 200.

So first question, Should I even make the switch over to a higher stall or stick with the stock 1600 Stall
Second question, does anyone have any experience with either Converter and have an idea what would be more of an ideal converter for my needs. I was told both these Converter will handle 5,500 lbs without any issues
-Yank Truck 278mm Thruster 2600 Stall 11"
-Circle-D 300mm "High Performance Series" 2400-2600 Stall 12"

I would think either one of the converters would drive like the stock one.
Especially with 4.56's and a 3.06 1st gear.
I can only speak of Circle D . I have a 6f in my 80E and 4.30's with a 28" tire and it feels totally normal till you floor it!
I know it's not a truck but I figured I'd throw that in there.
Now if you had 3.73's or lower and the taller tires it would feel a little softer out of lock up.

The 2600rpm Yank Torque Thruster works well in my opinion: https://ls1tech.com/forums/11-second...-tbss-11s.html

I put a 3,000 - 3,200 278 mm Circle D in my truck. 35's, 4.88 gears, heavy as F at 5,600 w/driver. It's definitely mild while just cruising around. I drove on a lot of fast, windy highways and never had it tuned so it unlocks the converter frequently. Wouldn't think twice about buying it again. I'd call Circle D and tell them about your setup. Very helpful.

For what it's worth - and I'm making a lot less power than you and my wheels/tires are much heavier than stock - I wouldn't consider going to anything with a lower stall. But that's ME. Also - I put the thing in 1st, stomped the gas and spun my tires from a dead stop for the first time ever without power breaking.

My truck is NOT making enough torque to pull a load uphill at 2,600 rpm. That's why I went with the high stall. If I get it up to 2,800 2,900 before a hill I'm OK. Anything lower than that and its either slow down or downshift and spin 5 grand up these long hills.

Curious about your 4" lift. I have a 3" body with 1.5 blocks in the rear, keys in the front. I'd really like a simple 4" lift and then run 37's. How do you like it? Expensive?

I suggest calling Yank and discussing your application.

While I don't have a truck with a aftermarket converter, I do have a 72 vette with a TH400 and Yank 3200 stall. Yank matched to my application and the converter has been perfect. The car can be a daily driver and do 1300 mile road trips. Yank's suggestions and converter was on the money for my application.

I picked up another Yank for a 4L60e project since I was happy with the first one.
