Strange 1-2 Shift on 4L60E at low TPS value
Im not sure if this is a trans issue or a tune issue - if I'm driving VERY carefully, such as in traffic or in heavily built up areas, my 1-2 shift seems odd. If i lightly press the throttle in 1st gear from a stop and don't try to accelerate very much at all, the trans will shift into second at about 8mph - but it seems to drop the RPM too much - almost back to idle speed of about 900 rpm. At anything more than a light throttle application the shift is perfect - Well it feels more "normal"
is that an issue?

Just FYI:
I just looked up the stock tune for a 2002 Camaro SS (which is likely the same as your car) and the lowest speed the 1->2 shift occurs is 11 mph at very light throttle.
At WOT it is at 37 mph.

Having to keep replacing the TPS makes me wonder if something else is going on. I can see that the original TPS wears out after 15 years due to the moving parts, but not in 3 months.

The original TPS had a dead spot. The first replacement - the potentiometer reading was totally different to a stock TPS and causing odd shifting, the second replacement was an AC Delco professional unit but after a couple of drives and noticing strange shifting behaviour again I took it off and it fell to pieces in my hand (central part the throttle shaft fits into fell out) and finally the 3rd replacement and fourth TPS in total over the last 12 months - a standard motor products one, works fine and has been fine for 8 months approx.

While trans/shift point tuning will definitely help......The underlying issue may be your camshaft & converter not playing nice with each other.
