My Th400 will not go into 3rd gear and in 2nd gear at WOT it hangs at 4500ish rpm and 12lbs boost like it is just hitting a rev limiter...

Help me with some ideas on troubleshooting?

Shifts fine 1 2 R, fluid level ok, hasn't been above 150 degrees

unfortunately / fortunately it was a "free th400" (fluid looked virgin in it so I swapped in new filter gasket etc) on my budget build and I threw a budget freak show performance 3500 stall on it. The combo was actually putting the power down nicely and I have been driving it trouble free for 3 weeks after doing 20ish dyno pulls to 6800rpm during tuning...

It hasn't been above 150 degrees temp with the big daddy derale cooler on it. I also used the transgo check ball kit so my vacuum modulator wouldn't see boost. One thing I didn't do was a pressure test on the transmission.....

I am going to pull the governor to see whats up then likely pull the pan looking for shards of metal this weekend.



Might be time for an upgrade... I see FTI TH400's on Summit for like 1700 w transbrake
