The truck pans hold 1 quart more than the F-body pans.
After engine upgrades it seems that the shallow F-body pan can experience fluid starvation at higher-than-stock acceleration rates.
Overfilling by 1/2 quart seems to solve that, but a 1 quart deeper pan also solves it. Don't go bigger than 1+ quart or ground clearance problems occur.

Correct. If you run them cool and don't spin them high they can live a while. Try to drop the car manually into gear if you know you are going to hammer it. Some people run the a fan on top of the external cooler as well

Very, very interested in your current state of mods/tune and mileage update.

Temps are up, strip is open... to the top.

If you guys were going to pick a tuning program to begin learning, with this trans tune being the priority, what tuning software would you use?

Is, for instance, would EFI live any better or diffrent than HP Tuners (or any other brand) to the OP?

I used HPT and EFI Live and prefer EFI Live. They say HPT is eaiser to get started for a newb but EFI live has a more advanced setup which I prefer. Car still runs great, set a new p.b. mph of 125 in the car recently. I live in FL so hero times are gone until things cool off but I still drive the car and it still has AC.....NO issues

Currently having to rebuild my 60E now. Going to try the 3/4 HD set up using Raybestos Zpak and a full rebuild. Let’s see how long it will last in my truck platform.

No HD sprag right? Someone said they didn't make one. What's the setup?

Bortous just PMed me the link to where he saw the sprag he is referring to. It’s just a stock design Borg Warner 29 Element Dual Cage Sprag that he saw PerformaBuilt was using in their Black Edition Trans.

Nothing special here, everyone can carry on now.

Yup, 4l60e is fully capable of handling power with a little tuning and knowledge of the internals.

I'd like to apologize to every knowledgeable poster on the forum...I pointed bortous towards performabuilt to buy a 60e cuz he "had to have one"
In doing so...I've created the biggest nut rider and thread de-railer in a long time.
This guy now "knows" (even though he has never ran their unit yet) that performabuilt black edition 60e is THE trans for EVERY build in ALL setups.
yes...its a nice unit...yes performabuilt are nice guys...but geez i've never seen anyone ride nuts so hard
