2012 4l60e with 2006 L33 Compatible?
Thanks to all on the forum for posting so much useful information and being such a great help. I realize this is my first post, but I just can't find this answer with multiple searches here and other forums.
I am doing an LS swap with a 2006 L33 5.3 into a 2006 Jeep LJ.
I have two transmissions available to me. One is a 2001 4l60 2wd from behind a 4.8 in a base silverado.
2nd is a 2012 4l60, 2wd, also from a 4.8 silverado.
2012 has much lower miles and better internals than the 2001. Pinout is different than the 2001, and there is no neutral safety switch. I have to open either trans to replace the output shaft to mate with the transfer case, so either trans will get a refresh and parts upgrade.
My questions:
1. Can I use the 2012 trans with the 2006 L33 Gen III computer/TCM? Will it plug up to and run the trans?. I'm assuming no as the pinout is different.
2. If it can't, can it be made to work with parts conversion while it is open for the output shaft?
3. If the 2012 won't work, will the 2001 work without issue?
4. If I have to stay with the 2001, what parts need to be upgraded in those for longevity and strength? The L33 will stay stock, at least for now. I realize this last question opens up a lot of ground, and is searchable and likely on many threads, so please ignore if it's wrong for a first post.
Bottom line, what do I need to do to use the 2012 trans with the 2006 Gen III 5.3 computer. Thanks for the help.

You can make it work with a '96-'08 Valve Body & Separator Plate swap, PM me if you need a good valve body/plate/gaskets/instructions at a decent price.
