08 Burb won’t move
Helping a buddy out and before we pull the tranny I wanted to run it by the experts. Suburban ran fine, wife parked it and got in the next day and it won’t move at all, to the point of pulling the driveshaft to get it on the trailer because it wouldn’t roll when put in neutral. You can start it and run it thru the gears and the motor acts normal when put in gear but no output shaft movement at all. I can give it gas in gear but nothing happens and then it won’t come out of drive unless I turn it off. Just trying to rule everything out before pulling the tranny.

I don't understand what you mean by "it won’t come out of drive unless I turn it off". Other than that, it almost sounds like the shifter is not working. I don't recall a single other post here where the trans acted like it was in Park.
Assuming the shifter is fine, I would first drop the pan and confirm that the internal mechanism for disengaging Park is working.

This is with the shift linkage disconnected and running it by hand all the way down and back to park. I’m not sure if the brake switch or column has any effect on the transmission engaging.

Yes, it’s a simple design. Two rods are hooked to the rooster cone. The small rod is hooked the manual valve in the valve body and the larger rod goes toward the rear of the trans and operates the parking paw. Either one of these rods coming loose could cause a problem, but with not being able to move the vehicle when not in park I suspect something is wrong with the parking linkage.

Well it looks like the little beveled piece that pushes on the pawl is hanging on the pawl not letting it drop. I pulled that linkage out but I don’t have anything to compare it to. The spring doesn’t look broke, beveled piece slides fine back and forth until it’s close to coming off and it hangs up. I’m not sure if the end of the shaft should have a shoulder or not.

Yes and yes, well the beveled piece almost slides off the rod but hangs up close to the end. I mushroomed the end of the rod and stuck it back in and it seems to be working correctly. Output locks when you put it in park and unlocks in gear. Buddy wants to find a new parking rod, so I’m hunting for one.
