Default 4l80e Slip Yoke Questions

Hello All,

I have a 1997 4l80e out of a short bus and need yoke information. As you see in the picture there is a housing of sorts that I am unsure if I should remove. I have the following yoke:Strange Transmission Yokes U1650

And the following picture is of my trans with the housing removed:

When I put the yoke in it bottoms out with 1.5" to spare. Do I cut 1.5 inches off the yoke, install and pull it out an inch to measure for the driveshaft?

Do I pull the metal piece off the shaft? Are there more splines in there?

The yoke does not have a vent hole in it.

Thanks for all the help!
Bill

The yoke butts up to the cup to seal so no fluid leaks through the pinhole in the yoke
