Default Cause of RPM rev at cruising and no increase in speed

'00 LS1 Firebird w/2yr old rebuilt transmission. Recently at speeds between 57 and 62 (1900-ish RPMs) and cruising, I'll accelerate to pass and the the rpms will increase 500rpm but I get no increase in speed. I happens every so often. When i slow down to 50 or so then start back up with the speed to 55-60-65, it doesn't happen. At first I thought it may have been the 3-4 clutch bands but now I've assumed that it's not the transmission because of the sporadic occurrences.... but now I hear rumors of it being a TPS and/or torque converter related. Thoughts???

Could be the torque converter coming out of lockup. I don't know anything about the automatics in this or most cars though.

That's the torque converter unlocking. Nothing to worry about.
