B&M stealth ratchet shifter install questions.
Afternoon everyone. I've seen a few cars with the B&M stealth ratchet shifter and have been really considering ordering one. I have a Yank 3600 stall in my 2000 SS. Before I order it, was just wondering if you guys have had any problems with the install or after installing I should be aware of? I've also seen a lot of guys put a manual center console in with the shift boot. Any help or pics would get greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is a thread with 100's of replies with photos showing different shifters and pictures.
There's also install threads for multiple shifters

You can make it work with a stock console. Here's mine. Took a bit of work to make it fit though. Also, to make the indicator work, you will have to make a small piece of plastic, i just used hard plastic from an old dremel case (the one I used for a lot of the work lol) and cut a piece about an inch long with a slot in the middle, then glued it to the side. That way you can pop it over the indicator and it will function, and trust me, you want that to work so you know what gear you're in lol.

That's a hell of an idea thanks for the tip. I like the shifter boot look but your probably right about knowing what gear your in. Other than the bit of fab was the install itself fairly easy?

Took me a while, but yeah pretty simple once you figure out the placement. You will have to make some cuts to original mounts, in the front for sure, and play with the cable routing, but totally doable though, obviously... lol.

The fab isn't terribly involved, but you will have to make cuts. A small cutter like a dremel or die grinder works wonders for this project since the areas you have to cut are hard to get to down on the top of the tunnel. You just have to make a flat spot for it to fit, and then it's just a matter of placement to work with the console. That was probably the hardest part. Bolting it in was no problem once you figure out the other parts. Last thing I rigged up was the indicator, and it works like a champ. It takes 2 clicks to go from park to reverse, or back to park, but every other gear is 1. That can get mildly confusing if you're not used to it or like playing with gears. It's worth the effort making it work, and I really like how it turned out.

Wish I could help you on that one. I don't know of many that did it this way. I would literally go out and take my console out and snap some pics to show you where to cut, but I can't since I'm overseas at the moment. I went into this knowing that it could be done and that was enough for me. I'm pretty handy with fab though, and building things, so I wasn't too scared. I couldn't find anyone else that did this either other than on YouTube, but it wasn't an install video. Just saw it was possible. His indicator didn't work though, so mine turned out better lol.
Like I said, you'll just have to clear some room for it. The old mounts get in the way. Pull the console, set the unit in there, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Like I said, wish I could help more, but this is as good as I can do lol.

In the last pic you can see the red indicator arrow but I haven't put the sticker on yet to show gear selection, its on there now. You can see we added a shifter solenoid for auto shifting. It does not interfere with shifting it manually either. Absolutely love this shifter.

Just trimmed the factory piece.

It really was pretty easy. Just install your center console over the shifter with that piece that goes around the old shifter removed. Then you can center the shifter in the hole and mark at least a couple holes. You will have to make a couple spacers to get it flat and sturdy. Then just trim the bezel.

Ok guys. Going to order and for the forward pattern for our cars there is two part numbers. Only the last digit is different. Anyone know what the difference is or if it matters?

I believe the only difference between the 2 is one has a carbon fiber cover. They didn't offer that one when we got ours. Not sure if it is actually carbon fiber or just a decal or something. They both can be set up for forward or reverse pattern and will have either sticker to match for the gear selection indicator.
