Default tranny temp gauge install

I am wanting to wire the light on my temp gauge to the headlight switch, so that the gauge light comes on with all the other gauges. What wire should I splice into to do this? HELP ASAP please!!!

If you wire it up per the instructions the light should only come on with your headlights.

The orange/white wire to the stereo is the "illumination" wire, connect it to correct wire on the gauge per your instructions (you can also connect behind the stereo to red=+12v ignition and black=ground).

I just finished my trans temp gauge install today.

The brown wire at the headlight switch is parking lights. If you connect it to that it will turn on when you turn on the parking lights or headlights.

Well I got it installed, and it went very easily. I also did my cooler while i was under the car. Does 180 sound about right for stop and go traffic? Does 150 sound right for 75+mph highway driving? these number are with the vig3200

I think anything under 200 is where you want to be.

i see you installed it already but for anyone else, the easiest way to wire the gauge lighting is to source the power from the dash-side fuse box, speicifically seat the wire in the same slot with the dash light dimmer fuse. then the gauge will dim and brighten with the rest of your lights..

My temps with the vig3,200 are very similar once full warmed up. My tranny runs cooler now with the stall and 24,000 cooler that it did stock.

i can't believe how cool my tranny runs!!! 120-130 degrees on the highway and 150-160 in traffic....

in JULY, i made 9 dyno pulls back to back followed by a couple quick blasts to check that the shift points werre correct and such and the needle barely touched on 180!

Vig 3200, 24K Cooler, Lowered coolin fan temp activation setting, BBK +3 quart finned, deep pan.

when ever i drop the pan to change the fluid and filter i plan on adding a deep pan. I run 150-160 on the highway & around 180 in traffic.

one time at the track a silinoid stuck and i made the 1320' in second gear only . my trans temp got up around 200-205.

If you want it to dim with all of your other gauges you can hook it up to the dimmer fuse. It will still come on whenever you turn on your lights, now you can dim it though.

For these tranny guage installs. Do they work off of their own temp sensor or do you wire them into the stock wires going to the stock temp sensor?

When you get the gauge it will come with a new sensor. just pull the plug out of the drivers side of tranns and replace it with the sensor (which uses the same threads, & screws right in).

Some people tap it into the pan, some put a "T" in one of the lines and mount the sensor there.

yep what he said....there's NOOOO reason to tap the pan when the 700-R4/4L60E have that perfect little pressure test port right there. (it's just above the shift linkage that sticks out of the tranny, not hard to get to.)

i did the sender hookup, all the wiring and mounting the gauge pod in about 2 hours.

Im pretty sure i didnt have a stock trans temp gauge, but the computer will still get the signal. you can go in through auto tap of one of the other programs and see exactly what the trans is doing--temps, pressures, i think it will even tell you the % of slipage?
