Default Stall converter questions. Please come in and give me some good input everyone please

Hey all.

Well I have always been into stick shifts but i know have a automatic.

I just purchased my 4th camaro and have some plans.

Its a 2002 Z-28 auto with 14,600 miles.

Its more for the street and just to have fun if a mustang ect pulls up to me. I may take it to the track but that would be a maybe and 1-2 times a year.

If I have to have tires to hook on the street I would go with nitto drag radials.

Thats a little info to give you an idea of what I will be using the car for.

Mods being done so far. Flowmaster cat-back, slp air lid, K&N filter, Slp bellows boot, Slp ported throttle body.

Eibach pro kit lowering springs 1.2 inches, panhard bar, sub frame connectors, lower control arms and panhard bar.

Most of this is already done and if not done parts are on the way.

I may go with a heads and cam swap in a few months.

Could you give me a few ideas what would be best.

Again I may or may not do the heads and cam. Not sure yet.

Also do all the 2002 Z-28's come with 273 gears?

Input please I really would like to hear from everyone.

Also places I can get the best deal would be great.

If you have 2.73 gears I would at least do 3.42's before or around the same time you do a stall. For mostly street use I would go with a Yank SS3600.

Also I am not sure which gears I have. Do they have any tags or the rear end or how can I find out? Thanks Ken

if your 2nd gear goes till around 90mph @ redline then you have 2.73's. i reccomend no smaller than a vig 3200/tci3500/yank3600.

the higher you go the more radical of a cam/heads you can run, but you can always change things later.

Look on the driver side door for a code either gu5 our gu2. GU5 is 3:23 gearing GU2 is 2:73. If you are gona lower your car you gona need LCA brackets to get that rear angle back. And adj PHB. I woudnt get a convertor under 3200. Also flowmaster doesnt flow really good from what i hear.

It sounds like you are well on your way as far as mods, I went with the TCI 3500, Trans go shift kit and B&M cooler. Lots of fun on the street, and a blast to drive on the strip. My$.02

I went from having those shitty 2.73's to some 3.73's and a tci 3500, and the ride improvement is incredible. No times yet, but gears and a stall really wake up the a4. Now, I need a really sticky tire, cause I don't get any traction at all
