How good are the SLP 4l60e's???

Im trying to decide on a new trans I really would like to do a TH400 but I have to minimize down time since its also my D/D so I kinda want to just slap it in with no problums..

Here is a link to SLP on Rappids site let me know what you think they are saying up to 600ft lbs of tourq And for that price it seems kinda to good to be true..

Im planing on running High to mid 11's soon so will this thing last?

they say the price is $1,695 with a $1,000 core charge ...

does that mean you give them:
1. $1,695
2. your tranny

and you get:
1. the beefed up tranny
2. $1,000 back, after they inspected your tranny and deemed it rebuildable

?

or the $1,695 price is after they give you your $1,000 back, and that technically means the tranny is $2,695 ? seems a bit excessive on the $ there..

its $1695 with your old trans its $2695 with out the old trans, basically you pay $2695 and they will then give you a $1000 for your old trans, thats the way cores work..:) so yeah the trans is $1695 after you send in the old one...
I wonder how much it would be to have mine rebuilt to there specs?

I think its a good deal if it can really handle 600ft lbs of tourq I see pepole breaking level three tranies with just a cam..

I don't have any experience with SLP's transmissions, but I have had several bad experiences with their customer service and warranty department.

I wouldn't buy an SLP product if my life depended it. There are plenty of sponsors on this board that sell beefed up 4l60e. Please do a search and reconsider buying SLP garbage.

If you do decide to go SLP, pray that you never have a problem with the trans. They won't do a damn thing for you warranty wise. Hell, they won't even pay 300 to have my pitting, rusting wheels rechromed. Imagine the runaround you'll get with a 2700 dollar trans.

Good luck

Yeah im not much on SLP either however seeing that Yank had somthing to do with this trans had me wondering..

Don't forget the double shipping....gotta be a couple hundred alone.

99'Formula Mar 8, 2005 08:32 AM

Just be patient and get the th-400 and not have to worry about how long is the tranny going to last. Being patient pays off.

Thats an really old add we stopped making them for SLP 3 years ago!!!
unless someone is bullshitting in there add

Maybe I'm misremembering but, doesn't the "60" in
4L60E mean GM "rates" it to 600 lb-ft input shaft
torque, as-is, vanilla?

If so, offer up a round of golf-clap to SLP for their
advancement of the art.

Art of marketing, that is.

Man, everytime I read one of your posts it feels like my grammar improves. I have to re-read your post sometimes to understand it. Not because it doesn't make sense, but because I'm not used to reading something so well written. Especially on the forums, lol.
