Default Is my trasmission screwed?

In first gear I lose power when I press on the gas, it takes about 20 seconds for the car to regain the power. The car also wont shift into over drive. at 70 m.p.h. it runs at around 4200 rpms. My question is do you think that I need a new transmission or might it be the torque converter, or the shift solenoid...
