Default Aftermarket converter, less chance of...

Alright. From what my engine builder has told me and from what other people have said it seems as if i have a ballooned converter that took out my thrust bearings. I don't seem to have any clogged lines or anything so i'm wondering if a defective converter could cause this. I put a brand new delco converter out of a s10 in my truck when i did the engine swap. It was supposed to be the equivalant of the trailblazer converter for my truck. Anyways 6k later i have bad bearings and the thrust bearing is black from all the heat (indicating the converter has been pushing against the flex plate). My question is, is a aftermarket converter less likely to balloon? I'm also wondering how much of a difference a 11" to 10" converter would make (im trying to decide between those two sizes). I don't really know what the diameter will do, I'm looking at the TCI breakaway converter in a 11". What do you guys think? Any advice is appreciated.
