Will ford AOD tranny fit in our cars?
Hey,
I was just wondering if the ford AOD would fit in our cars? I know that this is not the tranny that most would think of when considering a conversion, but these trannies are pretty strong, and I really want a 4spd in the car so as not to loose too much streetability.
These trannies can be made to handle about what ever you can through at them, and as an added feature they are a good bit cheaper than a smiliar GM tranny (200r4, 700r4, etc) and much more reliable than 4l60e.
I dont know if the bolt patters will line up, or if there is an aftermarket SFI approved conversion case or not.
Just curious
thanks

Ive talked to a few vendors, and there are a few shops that have aod and aode's that are in the 8's, and a ton that are in the 9's. the trannies are rated to a ton of HP.
and about half the price of a 4l80e. A full comp built 80e with verter is 4000, thats crazy money for a tranny

and for those that saw gear vendors, from what I have herd from those who have it, said that it didnt really help all that much.
and I dont want to spend 4 or 5k on a tranny setup, I can get the AOD for 2300, and a verter for 700
just need to know if it fits

yeah and they probelly rebuild them after everyweekend. I have seen freinds go threw AOD like they where going out of style in there mustangs. I would rather spend 4,000 bucks once than 2,000 6 times on a shity tranny.....

I have heard a lot of EAOD's breaking apart, but I not so many AOD's. My friend is running one in his SN95 converted from a M6 and he went from high 11's to 10.5 (yes he is a non shifting ****). But his car is putting down some decent power and the trans has worked flawless. Maybe some of us are relating storied of EAOD to the AOD in question?
